Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince

14:37 Wed 30th Jun 2010 |

Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince is a fantasy, action adventure. This is the sixth film in the series based on the book of the same name by J.K. Rowling. This film was directed by David Yates who also did the previous Order of the Phoenix. This film had a much better reception than the previous one.

The story is staring to get much darker and the characters are experiencing much more loss and emotional turmoil, not least because many of the leads are in the middle of their teen years. However, some audiences were left feeling slightly disappointed as many aspects of the book had been left out for the sake of expediency.

Jim Broadbent's performance as Slughorn was sterling, and Tom Felton (Malfoy) deserves the highest praise for conveying the tortured fear and misery Malfoy experiences in the burden placed upon him by Voldemort.

The story follows Harry’s continuing fight against Voldemort and his evil death-eaters. Harry is busy with his studies and finds an old portions book which has been copiously written in by its previous owner. The book helps him get through his difficult potions classes and he finds all manner of interesting notes and spells which he uses sometimes to his detrement. Dumbledore finally takes Harry under his wing and begins to open up about the story of Voldemort’s early life and what Harry will have to do to defeat him.
