Anyone with Park Assist - a question

I am soon getting a Ford with an added bonus of Park Assist. I believe this, or a similar system, is now available on a few cars (Honda, Volkwagen??) and it looks like a good system.

However it boasts that it can park your car with 40cm (16 inches in old money) front and rear clearance. Thats good! But does it help in anyway in EXITING this gap??

I can see many people shunting backwards and forwards with the parking sensors beeping away for hours.

I have a Mondeo Estate company car with parking sensors. Yes it does help exiting a space it has a sensor on each corner.
If you are a good driver Puternut, you do not need a park assistant.

I do see your point TWR but as I have a Motability car it comes as standard with front & rear sensors too!!

I do think I am fairly good at getting into parking spaces but was just passing the comment that whilst all this technology will help you IN to the space, you still have to get OUT 'unassisted'.
These extra devices they put on cars are ok when they work Puternut but when they start to go wrong its us that has to pay, I hope you don't think I was having a go at you Puternut? far from it.
Park modules and sensors are really reliable now .. the only think that is likely to pack up is the sounder (if separate)
