hi, i was driving and a guy delibarately hit me and sped off, the front bumper is slightly scratched, i had the kids in the car and was furious.i only got half of the reg plate but know what make and model and colour car is.next day i reported it to police, but they have informed me that they couldnt find full reg plate and there is nothing to be done. also i was advised to inform my insurance company in case they find out and i might be in trouble with them! i dont have any big damage, its only scratched, i dont think there is need to let them know.
i would appreciate your comments, thanks.

I've been phoning around for quotes, and have been asked "have you had any accidents you haven't claimed for?" so I guess they'd want to know.. although I can't imagine how they'd find out.

why would someone hit your car deliberately?
if someone deliberately hit your car, it sounds like they are looking for a claim - i.e. to say you hit them (nad then claim for whiplash etc)
i would tell my insurance company asap

i aproached a round about and this guy was coming behind me,suddenly he got on the right lane, drove beside me in middle of roundabout , hit me and took the left exit, speeding off! thats why i said delibarately.

I disagree, you need to report it, you have an obligation to report it. If you don't claim, there is nothing to say that the person who hit you won't try to make out that it was your fault, and try to claim off you. Your insurance company won't think much of it if you need to report it at a later date.
This happened to OH when he had a bump with someone else - he just withdrew the claim when the other side decided not to bother, it made no difference at all to his future premiums.

if the other driver tries to claim, deny all knowledge of any incident, all he has of you is your reg number - maybe.

i could go out right now, pick a car at random and claim they hit me...but no proof, no damage, no witness...i wouldnt get far...

id let it go...
