1998 Ford Fiesta stereo removal
10 Answers
Hey chaps & chapesses, anyone any tips on how to remove the radio/cassette from a '98 Fiesta without the special Ford tool? I've tried really thick strimmer cable stuffed down the holes, nails jammed in the holes, swearing, threats involving lumphammers, the lot. Nothing seems to work. Crazy when you think how hard it is to pinch the stereo when you could pinch the whole car with a teaspoon!

materials = old metal wire coat hanger
Cut two lenghts approx 8 inches long .
put two bends approx 3 inches from the ends making into a U shape " to both metal strips.
about 5 millimeter's from the end make a groove in the wire on All for ends that you now have...
there you go you have now created the special " tool " to remove a car stereo ... and without costing you more than a few pennies.
Flat blade screw drivers can do the job, if placed into the holes , however having 4 small enough could be a problem and as stated this is fiddly.
Please do not slide blades " screw drivers " down the side of the stereo to release the clips as this can cause face damage to dash - board housing.
good luck

"Why the hell would anybody want to nick a stereo from 1998 ford fiesta"
They wouldn't, but it is so easy to nick the whole car by wiggling a teaspoon around in the ignition barrell. Something inconspicuous to get you away from the post office after pointing a sawn-off at the post mistress, and then set on fire, costing me my no claims bonus. Thanks very much.
