Roughly, how long does it take for a car battery to go flat if the car lights have been left on (full lights)?

It is a reasonably new car and think it will have been well maintained and i would say used for moderate town driving

4 hours at a guess.
Question Author
presumably that would be shortened by the alarm and flashies going off 3 times first?
depends on the capacity and condition of the battery and the power of the lights. I would think 4 - 6 hours.
Question Author
looks like my "lovely" neighbours may come home to a flat battery .....or maybe not.
Do them a favour and smash the lights
Question Author
wouldn't Fosters on them if they were on fire Elvis - but that is a great suggestion :o)

Nooo! Battery charger is cheaper than new lights
eddie

I get the impression that Annie would not choose connect jump leads to battery terminals in this case.

you guessed right scotman - neighbours are a pain - they went out and left their two corpulant beast of kids with a babysitter - the eldest (11 year old girl) was out wandering the streets with her feral buddies, came back and started having a bit of a carry on in the street, making a fair bit of noise and managed to set the car alarm off. This was obviously hilarious, so they did it again. So funny that the younger boy (almost 9) came out the house and started bashing the car to get it to go off again. Poor babysitter came out and took them inside but has no keys for the car. When the alarm switched itself off, it has left the lights on - been like that since half 8.

yeah, I like a good gloat :o) - I have both jump leads and a charger too.
well on the way to a flat battery then!
Question Author
I might be joined in the gloat by the 6 families in earshot with young children who were probably woken up.
Question Author
hope so maidup - depends what time a game of bridge normally goes on to.
Question Author
may also be joined in the gloat with their next door neighbours who had to pick up bags of dog Sugar that they'd tossed over the fence, and threw lit matches onto their decking.
Question Author
that's neighbours home and she's just set the alarm off again - lights are now flashing again but sound gone off and lights looking a bit slow.....
Do you belong to the Love Thy Neighbour Scheme Annie? lol
I would be tempted to use the jump leads and charger on the kids not the car
Question Author
TWR - love the rest of my neighbours :o) - always one bad apple to spoil the barrel!!

marval - i've thought about a hit man but never the jump leads - someone else nearly got the boy with a lawn mower when he just wouldn't leave it alone while he was trying to cut the grass!!!!
