i just bought a car that was a project but with 12 months mot .When i got home i decided to do a hpi check on it .This came back as a cat b writeoff in 2002 but the car is structually fine and drives like a dream .I contacted the previous owner and they said that it wa bought as a burnt out car .I have checked the chassis no and that is the same as on the log book but when i checked the chassis number with the manafacture it was a 2002 chassis but the car is a 1994 model .Is it poss its had a new shell .If so how can i get the cat b changed as its poss not the original chassis

Chris's link will guide you but in reality the car is down as cat B write off and should have been spares only, although it has been reshelled. It is sometimes possible to get round this but is many years now since I had to handle the paperwork, previous owner has been less than honest with you.
Sounds to me like you have a stolen vehicle with substituted chassis number.
