anyone recommend this car as my daughter is thinking of getting one and I no nothing about the Alfa Romeo cars,she will be looking for one just under a year old

Suzuki Swift 1.2d are great small cars. About same mpg.

It is basically a Fiat Punto. These don't seem to rust away like Fiats of old but the wiper linkages have been known to be weak.

I have to say, though, that this is the most hideous Alfa I have ever seen. The Fiat is better looking and will be a lot cheaper.

It might be worth your daughter taking the time to drive a few other cars to see how they compare with the Alfa before making up her mind. i.e. Mini, Fiat 500, Ka, etc. If she prefers the Alfa drive then go for it though I suspect depreciation will be greater on the Alfa than, say, a Mini.

Alfa's have always had the reputation of being good cars to drive but being Italian have a poor reliability record.
If your looking for reliability go German or Japanese
