Hi - The Airbag warning light on my micra occasionally flashes on and off . I've floated this problem on other forums and know HOW to solve getting rid of this -a process of turning the engine on and off in five second intervals -and this works for random amounts of time from two days to two months then it comes back. Other people have had this problem and the general consensus seems to be that this is not a problem with the airbag system, but an electrical problem that is quite costly to resolve and not a DIY job. I also mentioned it to the garage when they did the MOT and they weren't unduly concerned as it wasn't 'doing it' at the time of the MOT. My question is - should I be worried -is it really 'just' and electrical problem or could my airbag system be faulty? Thanks

I think that if there was am actual fault in the airbag system then the light would come on and stay on and the DIY reset wouldn't work.
The connectors under the seats take a lot of punishment from passengers, moving seats and stuff getting kicked under especially if it's a busy family car.
Check to make sure that all connectors under both seats are still...

Check to make sure that all connectors under both seats are still attached to the frame and that both parts are securely in place.
DON'T unplug them unless you've disconnected the battery first!

Hi Douglas -thanks for your reply. Your explanation seems very feasible as the passenger seat is forever being pushed and shoved back and forward (no rear doors) by kids getting in and out. I shall get OH to look under seats for connectors there is more than likely one flapping about. Thanks again ;-)
