Hyundai I40 Possible Design Fault!

My friend could not open his car using the key fob. Simple he thought I will just open it manually this is when he discovered there were no visible lock.
When the RAC it worked but they were also bemused by this!
Is this a design fault?

There is a hole for the key but it is hidden.

That is what I thought but where? The RAC guy did not know where it was.
Location of keyhole is at the end of the clip.
