I have an jaguar x type 2.5 v6, just recently the oil warning light has been coming on but not fully, and only when the engine has warmed up, it either glows really dimly or flickers but isn't fully on. Any ideas what will cause this, the oil level is correct.

thanks

Hopefully it's not the oil pump... but you need to have it checked for the computer readout of fault codes. One site says if it's P1646 or P1647 then it is usually just a bad sensor... but get it checked...

Hi, thanks for that,. had the codes read, but there where none,
How old is the car and how many miles has the engine covered?

hi, its a 2002, covered 110,000,
I always thought an oil warning light was either on or off, but this ones seems to glow rather faint, then get brighter, then off, the over again randomly
If it goes out when the engine is revved and comes on at tickover it may suggest the oil pressure is dropping at low revs due to engine wear. Does the car have an oil pressure gauge?
Check the connection, it may be loose on the Switch.
Replace the oil pressure switch. They're not expensive.
If the fault disappears, you've got peace of mind.
If the fault continues, prepare to dig deeply into your pocket. A faulty oil pump could be the least of your worries.
as Graham above says its normally the switch and the cheaper option
