Saw this today - invented in Norway apparently. Having seen a very near miss on the way home yesterday (an irate driver in front of me rushed to get past a cyclist going up a steep hill and both nearly came a cropper when a car came the other way) I think this would be brill here if placed on a cycle route for steep hills... What do you think? Just another daft idea? Too much investment required? Or a life-saver?
I have a friend who lives at the top of a vey big hill near trondheim. they also have heated pavements in their more northern cities. just enough to keep the ice off the pavements and prevent people slipping. heated by wave power.
No chance of that. I have enough trouble riding forwards. Riding backwards I'd fall off and leave my shoe on the lift, to be retrieved at a later date.
Mind you, I'd like to see you zooming to the top under full power and do a launch like Evel Knievel.
Looking at the pictures on the link, i believe i've found a major flaw. Once you begin to ascend this bicycle escalator, you become a totally different person and your bike changes, too!
a better idea would be to try and get more people to use these type of bikes with the council supplying free charging points in city centres and out in the small towns
:o) sorry, just got back from work - Love the comments, Thanks. It just made me chuckle this morning. I can't see it coming to the UK any time soon, but it'll be interesting to see what other new developments like this crop up over the next few years
