Hi I have a VW Golf 1.9tdi 2003 which in the morning gives a rough idle and white smoke and no acceleration which lasts for 2 mins as soon as it is warmed up the problem goes away.

I have so far got it serviced as it was due. I had the pollen filter, fuel filter, air filter, oil flushed, oil filter, ,new engine oil and glow plugs changed but so far the problem is still there.

I have also put in a bottle of Forte Advanced Formula Diesel Treatment which does the following:-
• Restores injector spray patterns
• Improves engine performance and response
• Maintains EGR valve and variable vane turbo cleanliness
• Lubricates and extend the life of injectors and fuel pump
So far I have spent a small fortune but with no success can someone advise please.

Thanks
Nisar

What mileage ?
It sounds like the engine management system isn't recognising when the engine is cold; perhaps a sensor needs changing or its contacts cleaned.
Was the service carried out by a main dealer? They usually run a diagnostics check which highlights and potential problems.
Normal for a diesel of that age to smoke a little on start up, I would be looking at EGR / intake clogging. One bottle of diesel treatment won't cure.

The mileage is 186K the smoke is definitely excessive. The service was done at a normal garage as the deals are way to expensive and a diagnostics was done on the injectors but that was fine. Will need to have a proper full diagnostics done it to see what it throws. You probably are right in saying it could be a sensor.

Thanks
