Personally I would be very careful taking up car hire through a travel operator - it often appears cheaper but they tend to use some big name rental companies that can give shocking service and the end price is much higher than your initial quote - mainly by added extras such as forcing their CDW insurance on you at pick-up and many horror stories of fuel costs and fictitious body damage being taken off credit cards. Names such as Gold Car. If you have found a local firm that you are happy with then stick with that. I haven't been to Cyprus but hire cars regularly in Menorca and read all sorts of horror stories about big name companies on TA. I always use the same local company I'm happy with, even if it is a little bit more expensive it's hassle free.

I don't know about hiring through Jet2, but I usually book a BA FlyDrive and tag on a car and that definitely works out cheaper than hiring separately. Regarding the CDW insurance, I buy Hire Car insurance in the UK before travelling. www.questor-insurance.co.uk is one such company I have used and the premium for world wide car hire, including UK, is about £80. Make sure that the insurance covers any excess whatsoever down to zero should the worst happen. Take the certificate of insurance with you and that should save you a lot of hassle and cost.
