mondeo heater

i have just bought a mondeo lx td on a 96 n plate

the heater is only blowing cold air, changing cold to hot using control dial makes no difference. the settings dial ie footwell, windscreen etc wont change either you can move it to different settings but all it does is blow cold air through ever vent hole. the temp on engine display is ok, it stays round middle when engine has warmed up. any advise would be great.

am i right in thinking it maybe the electronic heater flap? if so is that a big job, costly etc?

It could be something as simple as the dial having come away from the control behind the facia - this isnt unheard of and the fact nothing is happening with both dials leads me to think this. Removing the fascia can be quite fiddly and may seem extreme - i'm not familiar with the layout of your dash but you may be able to just remove the heater control unit. As always i'm just guessing but i have known this to happen.
