Parking Fine

OH came home to find a parking ticket for £100. He had gone to meet friends out near Birdlip. He parked in the car park, bought a ticket, it said everyone including disabled parked for the whole day for £2. He displayed his disabled badge.
The ticket had photos of him entering and leaving about 3.25 hours later.
He has googled the parking rules, he still has his parking ticket for £2.
He has appealed but has to wait 35 days for an answer.
What do you reckon will happen. Will he have to pay?

What was the reason giving for imposing the penalty charge? Was it, for example, for parking in a disabled bay without displaying his badge (even though he did)? Was it, perhaps, for not displaying his ticket (even though he did) or was it for over-staying the time allowed?

Also, did your OH check that the unrestricted parking for £2 applied on the day that he parked? (Car parks run by Ipswich Borough Council, for example, offer unlimited parking for £2 after 2pm. However that offer only applies on weekdays. Someone parking on an IBC car park on a Saturday might not realise that the offer doesn't apply then. There might be a similar limitation on the car park your OH used on market days or certain other days).

It was a Friday. He read all the rules and restrictions. Displayed his disabled badge. Paid what it said i.e. £2 for the day. Don't know what more he could have done.

Yes he displayed his ticket. We are at a loss to find a reason. He has appealed. So we must wait.

I've been struggling to find a car park near Birdlip that might be the right one. Can you point me to it?

If it's the Crickley Hill car park (run by the Wildlife Trust), they've only just reduced the fee to£2 for all day - I think the ticket is a mistake based on the old rate of £2 for three hours.

I'm wondering if your OH entered the wrong registration number? That would account for the penalty charge.

I always thought that a parking ticket had to have the reason for the ticket on the penalty notice so you know what you have received it for. This is so you know the reason and can appeal if you think it is wrong.

Yes, it should say on the ticket.
I was a bit peeved yesterday to find a penalty on my car. I at first thought it was because I was just six inches onto a double yellow. When I read the ticket it said I’d stayed too long. I paid up.
