For me I cannot vote for a big Government, high taxation and high spending Party. The Torys should be about reducing taxation for individuals and companies and helping the poorest get on the ladder to 'riches'. Freezing the tax bands and upping NHI clobber those least able to afford it - Johnson and Sunak should hang their heads in shame. And just wait unitl the new green policies push taxation up higher, again hitting those at the bottom hard.

Johnson is a disaster who has blatantly lied in his manifesto and cant or wont answer straightforward questions often going into hiding at pivotal points, he has also squandered (or allowed to be squandered billions).

The problem is though would you prefer Labour - absolutely not IMHO, lest face it the Deputy alone would put off anyone voting for them

Taxes will rise. We all know that. But the other main source of income for the govt and local authorities, will be the motorist, who has been used to replace lost revenue from falling tobacco sales over the last 10 years.

No but the manifesto is only one thing. Money is being wasted like no ones business, I realise that as a lefty you are happy with this 'New Labour' Government though.

Sorry, YMB, but after all the expense of Covid how can you honestly expect the government to lower taxes? everything has to be paid for. Unless they wanted to bankrupt the country, no government would act differently.

For me its the type of taxation. Hitting the poor is never a good idea especially where the NHS is concerned. You end up spending more on lost days income and treatment as poverty does lead to more illness.

Raising taxes also stifles the economy, its labours way and fails every time. Stiffling the economy again hits the poorest and we are back at the first point again.

Lastly there are other ways of paying, like reduce Government spending which at the minute is getting ridiculous (Not including Covid). Again big Government is labours way and again always has led to failure.

Well, we're not sure where the government will raise taxes yet so it's a bit early to say who will bear the brunt, but I think the problem is too many people want everything for nothing. It's their 'right'. Screw as much as they can out of the system regardless of who's paying for it. Even down to unnecessary GP appointments to get a packet of aspirins free rather than spend 50p in the pharmacy. It all costs money. I'm not sure if the Welfare State hasn't a lot to answer for when so many seem so dependant and so devoid of the ability or the willingness to accept personal responsibility.

I'm happy for the government to cut foreign aid but I don’t think they should do it by stealth, if that is what they are doing (and we don’t know that). I think they should just do it. In fact the whole thing needs re-thinking. Perhaps it's time to stop giving automatically when funds often fall into the hands of corrupt regimes, and instead set up a disaster fund to help when and where it's really needed.

Totally agree with naomi regarding people fleecing the NHS. One small example, I know a woman who has multiple shares, owns land which is rented out, lives in a half a million pound house, no mortgage and can afford to have the the full amount of premium bond money lying idle. In spite of her wealth she has a repeatable prescription for indigestion tablets.

One point of Andrew Neil's that has not been commented on,"The deputy leader would put you off for a start."Absolutely correct,this woman is probably more of a vote loser than the Abacus.Now that's saying something.

The government has spent around £100 billion on work support schemes such as furlough, which is a little less than would be spent on the NHS and health in a typical year. The scale of spending due to covid has been immense.
