What Might Be Wrong With My Car?

I drive a 2009 Jaguar X Type 2.0 diesel manual and have done for two years. For the last few days there seems to be what I’d call a turbo lag, as in when I get up to say 30mph and have it in fourth gear I have to press the accelerator a little further and then nothing happens for about 4 seconds and then the turbo kicks in and I get thrown back into my seat as the torque kicks in and the car takes off, but why the delay? Thanks

Best thing to do is plug in an OBD reader and see what fault codes come up, if any. Anything else is just guesswork.

Surely if can afford to drive one of those you can also afford a good mechanic.

An OBD reader will give you a clue but my guess would be a faulty MAFF/MAP sensor, a faulty engine management unit or sticking turbo actuator.

Is there a speed limiter option. Turned mine on by accident once and had this problem?

Piggy- it’s a 2009 X Type, it cost £4000 in 2019 when I bought it, it does 43mpg and only costs £50 to full up. Explain to me why this is an expensive car to run?

Bobbin- no as it doesn’t stay at that speed it’s just a long delay before it decides to speed up
