Bicycle With Hydraulic Disc Brakes - Brakes Lever Travels

I wonder if the brakes lever travel is normal on the rear brakes. When I pull the rear brakes lever, it travels a lot more than the front brakes lever.
If I release the lever and reapply the brake again (pull the lever again), the lever travels reduces. Is this normal.
However, the front brakes have the same travels every time I release and reapply the brakes.

Effectively, the rear brakes is like a car's brakes pedal when you pumping it with the engine off.

As a matter of interest I went to Halfords and tried one of their bike (different brands/bike), the rear brakes behaves the same as mine. So what is the conclusion?

Found another video that shows the lever with lots of travel. The problem is low in the hydraulic fluid. Will try and top it up.
