If stolen, the insurance company won't pay out. Leaving keys in the ignition and the vehicle unattended would be considered negligent and against T&C's.

a friend of mine had her jamjar thus stolen off her drive, then used in an armed robbery then chased by the police. Written off + 2 police cars written off. Her insurance had to pay the lot, even for the barriers on the motorway!

The RAC (and indeed the AA) also gives highly misleading and sometimes factually incorrect information about many motoring matters. So you need to treat their advice with caution.
