Problem still persisting on Vauxhall Corsa

I am having trouble with my Vauxhall Corsa. W reg. I had an MOT and Service in December '05 and over the last 2-3 months have been having some unexplained troubles.

My car tends to judder, lose power briefly and then carry on. At times the EML light comes on, but as soon as I apply the brake it disappears. Clearly this is an intermittent fault. This problem also happens when traveling up steep hills or along the motorway when I change gears too quickly.
Hence, since this problem has occurred I have avoided steep hills and traveled reasonably slowly along duel carriageways, rarely hitting 70 mph.

I have recently had a diagnostic check and it was diagnosed as either, the O2 Sensor, Cat or ECU. I have recently had the O2 sensor replaced but the problem still persists.

I have had the CAT looked at and it is unlikely although not certain that it is the CAT

Is it possible that it is the ECU? If so, will I need to replace the whole part or is something so registering on the computer.

It was mentioned before on this site to check Spark Plugs, HT Leads and Fuel Filter but these are not the cause.

There are a lot of electrical connecters on your car, it only takes one of them to be faulty to cause your problems.

As the ECU is the only part not replaced this could be your answer but they are expensive.

I had similar problems with an Astra, but not as bad as yours, they just dissapeared themselves after a few months, I hope the same happens to yours!

It sounds as if it could be the crankshaft position sensor.
