vauxhall corsa 1.0 12v eco tech
i have a 1.0 3 cylinder corsa car had been running prefect until one day it began to surge ! reving up and down on its own the car has had engine diagnostics which pointed to throttle control valve and air flow meter however after renewing these parts the car is no different i have now been advised it is the computer and must be changed where is the brain/computer and what must be changed with it as i have been told so many stories

The brain is the ECU which controls ignition timing, fuel delivery and all the sensors associated. It would be worth checking simple things first like the ICV. Also check to see if there are any air leaks around vacum pipes. Might also be worth checking the air filter. On some cars it is possible to reset the ECU. Indeed I have done this a couple of times (on a 1992 mini) and it did improve running. If you do decide to get a new ECU you might be able to pick one up from a scrappie for a fraction of the price.
