Have started using redex

in my car recently - when should I start noticeing any difference in economy and performance

You probably wont, redex type products may help if you have a high mileage engine that is running very poorly due to clogged injectors, You may notice an improvement in starting or cold running. Dont expect to see a miraculous improvement in fuel economy though.

Have a very old car, rover 414 (91) 16v, so maybe it will help engine

Sorry mdoo, didn't think to do anything so simple - but I travel regulary from maidstone to sittingbourne (kent) and five pounds (�)in petrol would be enough for two trips pre redex, nowI seem to be managing an extra trip

about 12 miles - roughly measured by never letting tank go less than half full (or half empty - depending on personal view) and keeping a rough check on how high arrow is on fuel gauge after I fill her (why is it we call cars female - os because they do what they want when they feel like it)

Glad to see you are supporting the chemical industry by using RedEx but pretty certain you're not going to see genuine, quantifiable, improvement in mpg. Good maintenance is more effective than additives.
