I have a peugeot 407 and the windscreen wipers are driving me crazy, they are constantly dragging across the windscreen making an annoying noise. They seem quite new and dont need replacing. Wonder if there is anything I can do to alleviate this annoying action either cleaning the windscreen with something, or anything to put on the wipers, that would reduce the friction. Has anybody experienced same with this model

Try cleaning the wipers and windscreen with a neat solution of screen wash, if that don't work, just replace the wiper rubbers.
Put some WD40 on a cloth and wipe it over the rubber, that will de-grease them. Also use some vinegar on the windscreen. If they still scrape you need new wipers.. check ebay as they're quite cheap, but Champion blades from Motorworld are pretty reasonable and are far higher quality
Yep - it sounds as if you need new wipers. You can't really tell wipers are worn by looking at them. its how they work that counts. If the wipers still scrape and make a noise when the screen and wipers are very wet then you will need new ones.
Had the same problem and it drives you crazy. Cleaned the blades & the screen but still no good. Bought some bosch wipers with the blades already attached from Halfords 15 and the guy from the shop popped them on in the car park in the rain. Their the Bees Knees.
I don't think Its anything to do with the model of car its just one of those things! Well worth spending the money.

Many thanks to all for your answers much appreciated
Some of the problems with wipers is that they are not set correctly - turn on the wipers and then turn off the ignition off when they are at mid-sweep, lift the wiper warm off the screen and then put it close to the screen without actually touching it - the wiper blade should be at 90 degrees to the windscreen - if it is not close an adjustable spanner onto the wiper arm as close to the point where the wiper is attched to and rotate the arm until the blade sits at 90 degrees to the screen - thta may cure some of your problem.
