I changed the belt on an Alfa 156 v6 which is also a quad cam. I was not prepared to shell out for locking tools so I accurately marked all the cam wheels and the crank pulley and did it that way.
Using a suitably sized drill bits you can lock the cams in a fashion. When fitting the new belt start at the drive side and work you way back towards the non-drive side where the tensioner ought to be located. If you do it the opposite way you will find that the cam wheels on the rear bank will be one ore more teeth out when you do up the tensioner. Once the belt is on crank the car slowly with a ratchet two complete turns and check and double check the marks. It's a long job which rewuires patience so don't rush it or it could be new engine time. Good luck. Xud
