Hi,

The other day my car ( a 99' 1.8 zetec mondeo) started to what i can only descrbe as vibrate when it hit 1500 above that doesnt seem as bad

I took it to a garage who told me its its not firing on all cylinders and its the leads or plugs (he looked at oil to see if was water in incase head gasket had gone)

Ive now changed them but its still the same i was wondering if itmight be the ignition coil

I unpluged 1 lead at a time from the plugs and when i unplugged the far left one the engine cut out someone told me they fire in pairs so if the one thats paired to that one its duff in coil it would cut out?

any help :)

cheers

As a Mondeo owner myself I would take the car to a specialist Ford garage ( not main dealer unless you are loaded) and get them to interrogate the engine management system. This should quickly indentify the problem, then ask them for a quote to fix it. Good luck.
They did suffer from problems with the plugs and leads especially on No.4 cylinder.
Steve..
The same has hapened to my car.. Have changed the plugs and leads.. no difference.. Running really rough..
Did you solve the problem..
I am mindful that it may be the coil..

Rich
ignition coils are a common ford problem. if the engine is not misfiring at idle and then misfiring at 1500rpm i would advise you get the injectors checked.
Took car to garage..
Needed a new coil pack..
85 fitted and now running as well as before..
Cheers
