Peugeot 306 water leak!

I have a 306 S reg and the drivers foot well has a puddle in it which keeps growing! I have to mop it every day with towels otherwise my feet sit in water when i am driving. The rest of the car is dry and i don't think it is the sunroof because surely the seats would be wet , and why only the drivers footwell? i am worryed in is going to cause a rust issue . any ideas ???

Leaking windsceen seal ?
Pull the carpet back in the footwell back and get someone to spray a a garden hose around the car this hopefully will indicate where the leak is coming from.
And yes, it will rot the floor in time. And it will begin to stink.
