remote locking on Audi a6

On my audi A6 the remote locking only works from time to time. After a long journey the car will lock remotely but after a few short journeys it will not work remotely either to lock or to open the car. Any ideas from anyone on what needs to be changed.

Key Fob battery could need replacing? Had similar problem on my A3 but still not got to bottom of it and opt to use my key.

battery will not cure the problem, replace the remote, a dealer will need to code in the remote and any other esixting keys, bout 60 quid for the remote and coding.
