2nd hand cars on bay - cat ins damage

I'm looking to purchase a used car & I've been looking on ebay where there appear to be some great bargains of modified insurance write offs with varying categories. Does anyone know anything about this & what the consequences are with insurance or when it comes to selling it? Gratefull of any comments, thanks

written off cars are put on a register for insurance companies,which will show up on all hpi checks and also at the dvla.therefore it will make it a lot harder for you to sell it,but there can be a lot of pluses in buying one as long as it is repaired well and passes the vosa vic test.
