Things you have to take into account -
1: Condition of car - Does the bodywork need attention first?
2: The colour you are going to? Some colours can act as base colours to new ones and can save money.
3: Are you having a special colour? The Standox Rainbow paint used on some of the limited editions Primeras and micras that nissan did a while back was over 300 a litre.
I had a Saxo done with a white pearlescent flip using the existing white of the year old car as a base. The paint was in good condition to start with and it cost me 1300.
I've known some to be as cheap as 600 but with anything, you get what you pay for.
Shop around and see if you can see examples of work already carried out.
