Parking ticket with wrong registration
9 Answers
I received a parking ticket whilst parked on private land. It gives details of the make and colour of my car which are correct but the registration plate has been incorrectly hand written down.
Where do I stand on paying this fine? Any advice, greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I don't know whether this has happened, and of course don't want to write to ask as that will be as good as admitting it's my car. And just to confirm, the ticket was placed on the windscreen by a private operator.
Thanks

I may be wrong but I would be inclined to ignore it. If they did trace you tell them the registration does not belong to your car.
The registration is the only way they can identify a car / owner.
If they did find you I doubt if they could force you pay double let alone the original fine. It's their mistake.

I had a similar instance where I was given a parking ticket on yellows and they put the worng reg down.
Never heard anything from them - you wont if you think about it - how will they get your address from the wrong reg plate ? Once that has been brought into the frame - they could have made a mistake with the colour, make model etc etc they haven't a leg to stand on.
Unless of course they did take a photo !!!
They would then probably issue another ticket when checked with the photo - with your cars details and go from there.
If it was me - I'd wait and see if they do have photo evidence and using the reg plate as an example of the mistake they have made - insist on seeing a copy of the photo if they insist on pursuing it.
