Diesel cars have different driving attributes, to get the same power/speed diesels have turbos or twin turbos. Also intercoolers.and no particulate filters. Lots to go wrong!, and cost you to repair.
Diesels have no electronic ignition but have very expensive injectors and fuel pumps- especially modern 'common rail'
I would say you need to do around at least 12K a year to win- even than you need to get rid before the problems start. Unless you do a lot abroard. also is it a company car?, if so great.
otherwise , stick to the tried and trusted.
