fiat punto oil pressure light does not go out untill you rev engine. oil level is fine

If the motor isn't showing any other symptoms of terminal illness- rattling/smoking/knocking/severe oil consumption, that sort of thing- then it's most likely nothing more than a dying oil pressure sensor.
Change that- it's a lot cheaper than a full engine rebuild!!
