thanks confirmed my thoughts
The minimum period for disqualification under the totting up is six months.

After the disqualification the license comes back 'clean'.

So your friend is right - except the ban is a minimum six months, not six weeks.
My hubby got caught by a mobile speed trap three years ago and got a fine and three points on his licence. He'll get those back soon I believe. So you friend is in deep trouble here, unless some of her points are due to be put back on her licence. I can only wonder what her insurance must cost. :-) Here's a link to the government info site on motoring offences. IInterestingly, it appears you have to apply to the DVLA to have offences taken off your licences, it doesn't appear to happen automatically. Worth knowing. Good luck.

Blasted Coppers !!!

XxAzxX - it always pays to research your answer before posting as you look quite daft when you are so positive about something that you are so wrong about.

Gina your friend sounds like she needs to slow down and address her driving skills for her and everybody elses sake.

your friend cannot have 13 pts on her licence,as she would already be banned from driving,do you mean she has 10 and is in a position, because of a summons to receive another 3,which will take her to 13 and a almost certain ban, read the other posts as to the length of ban, except the 1st post, who hasent got a clue.
Question Author
she has just received 3 more points totalling 13
how did she get the 3 pts,it must have been at court,so she would have been banned at the same time.
Question Author
dont know, she just told me about the points thats all maybe she is due to go to court
Maybe some of the earliest points are due to be taken off or expire imminently. I had an ex brother in law who had 14 points on his licence for a very short time.
Question Author
well she knows she is going to be banned so not sure how long they been on, she doesnt seem bothered anyway, would rather speed it seems
Well lets hope she sees her ban through and doesn't decide to ignore it like she ignores the speed limits.
Question Author
i dont think it will bother her once she gets her licence, if she loses it, back she will probabaly do the same again
