it is imperative. unless you want to pay roughly about 800 quid to put it right when it fails.
dude the cambelt keeps the engine working if this snaps then its probably a new engine or a hefty repair bill to replace all the broken engine componants, so yep its a case of phoning the dealer to ask as per the model service interval when you need to get this done, other than a belt you also have a cam chain on some cars which dont need changing untill around 100 k but as with all moving things you need to look after them so a regular oil chang is a must for everyone and thing

If it's due by mileage or age get it replaced, if you aren't sure of the history of a car you've just bought, get it done as a precaution.
Anyone who doesn't risks a huge repair bill.
We always recommend to our customers that the belt tensioner and pulleys are also replaced, as it's sometimes these components that fail.
