Alarm problems with Mark one ford mondeo
2 Answers
My husband has had his "N" reg mark one mondeo for 7 months,
This is going to sound really stupid but yesterday for the first time it decided to let us know it has an alarm!
We have had no clue, it had not made a sound, untill now!
It might have been taking it through a car wash(normally hand washed) or that fact we reset the fob by taking out batteries... but it now beeps
We thought someone else's car alarm had been going off, but after going to lock the car yesterday, it happened to "beep"!
It went off again and we tracked the sound to the boot, left hand side under the metal,
thing is it has now decided to go off at random times, like 1am!
We want to get it working properly, have followed some advice with the bonnet operation switch,to find out what kind it is, it doesnt seem to have interior scanning, just perimeter, the LED flashes when locked, we have since found the alarm box and attacked it with WD40! but please help! is there a way to get it working properly

if it was me i would lift the bonnet and you will see a black switch sticking up at the front, press that ten times rapidly, you will then hear a beep, quickly shut the bonnet and go around the car opening and closing the doors (one by one )
each time a door is open you should hear a beep, if you dont hear a beep then that door maybe faulty and might be setting off the alarm, dont forget to do the boot and bonnet aswell, and when you have done all that, leave the car for about 20-30 seconds( dont open any doors ) and it will reset and go back to normal, but make sure you dont have a butterfly or fly in the car as that can cause alarm to go off too. hope that helps, if not then disconnect the rear horn that you mentioned, or replace the alarm module( under passenger glove box..

Do you lock your car with the key?
If so, turn the key left and then turn it to the right.
You should then hear four Beeps. this activates the alarm and includes the "Interior Scanner".
But be warned. Make sure that all windows are closed.
A fly or spider inside the car is enough to set the alarm off.
Nine out of ten times false alarms are caused by water contaminating the switch under the front of the bonnet.
Hope this helps.
