According to the stats from the manufacturers.
The Clio has 110bhp, does 0-60 in 8.6 seconds with a top speed of 121mph.
The Focus has 113bhp, does 0-60 in 9.9 seconds with a top speed of 123mph.
So the Clio is slightly quicker off the mark, well it is a lot lighter than the Focus, but the Focus has slightly more top speed.
Bearing in mind the ages of the cars, I'd say the Focus would probably be the fastest overall.
Does it really matter, the maximum speed limit is 70mph?

Looking at ROJAM'S figures I would say it's all down to the skill of the driver not the performance of the 2 cars.
