my dad thinks he should get me a 1999 volvo v70 as my first car, as it is big and safe!! can any one think of a way of getting cheaper insurance for this or a similar car, the smallest engine they do is a 2.0, ive tried all the comparison sites. Another idea is getting a classic car , as the insurance is cheap, the only classic car i like is a alfa spider, but like hell !! Any ideas, i dont want a boring usual car live a corsa, fiesta and my dad who will buy the car (I pay insurance) hates french and italian cars!!!! any ideas?
Volvo for a first car???????????? I wouldn't.
If you want something quirky how about a Smart Forfour.
Skoda Fabia,Hyundai Getz (5 year warranty)Kia Picanto,Mini One,Seat Ibiza,Suzuki Swift,Toyota Yaris,VW Polo but NOT the Volvo
Vauxhall calibras are pretty cool, 406 coupe's are cheap as dirt due to depreciation but that sort of car will cost bombs on insurance, ADRIAN FLUX is a good company for young {me23 drivers with modifications but ur better cheaper:
Id look for cheap j-r reg renault clio airbags power steering ABS central locking etc their 500 + 800 insurance.
Leave the classics to your 2nd or 3rd or 4th car, from experience* you want a car that works first time. gl
A Volvo ? noooooooooooooooooooo way !
Unfortunately when you're a new driver, you cannot just get into any 'interesting' car you like. You have to play it safe, get something with a small engine which will make your premium cheaper. When you've got a few years no claims and some experience you can get something a bit flashier. Boring I know, but unless you want to be crippled for insurance you'll take my word for it !
