i am moving to ireland and need a car. is it cheaper to buy one in the uk or in ireland

cars are generally cheaper over in eireland
Depends, north or south.

New or used.

Get a copy of an Irish paper and go through the ads., once new cars were cheaper in the south but not so much now.


Used cars in Ireland tend to be "more used " than in England. Also you have to take in account the exchange rate between the Euro and Stirling.

If I was moving to the South I would be inclined to buy a car here and take it with me.
Cars are chaeper here in the Republic. Cheaper until you have to pay the exorbitant (and possibly illegal under EU competition law) registration tax, which can be up to 40% of the car value.
