I have just aquired a black metallic Merc C180 Esprit , which I would like to de-badge. My previous car, same make/model was already de-badged when I bought it, so I would like the same with this one. Has anyone attempted to do this & did it cause any damage to the paintwork? Cheers.

When cars are bought from new it is a no cost option to have no badges. So buying a second hand car with no badges is different from having them taken off. It would involve respraying the boot etc to acheive this. Question is, is it worth the trouble?

Nice one IndieSinger, I enjoyed that bizzare website, even tho' it had nothing to do with de-badging a car!!!!

Cheers robber1, I thought as much, so I won't bother de-badging after all!

Have you tried a hot hair dryer, i know this is how you remove 'go faster stripes' off the sides of the car, it my be the same principle from the badges, and it won't damage your car finding out

Thanx Frankie64, I shall certainly give it a try. Cheers Smudge.
it all depends on how the badges are fitted, some are put on with double sided foam tape in which case using a hairdrier to soften the glue before pulling the badge off then t-cutting the area is good. Some are fitted by having spikes protruding through the panel and clipped on, if this is the case you need to remove clips from inside the paned and remove badge, this will leave some small holes which will need to be filled and sprayed.
