i have an 01 scenic and yesterday i was coming home and the engine light come on and it started to splutter sounded abit like the exhaust was blowing but its not the problem and i had a strong smell of burning rubber and suggestions and ideas would be gratefully received,

Oil dripping onto the manifold makes a smell like burning rubber.

Don;t know how to tie that into the noise or the engine management light though?

the megans have individual coils on each plug/piston and they are a common problem with this car.

they say its because the drip tray above them in the bonnet drips water onto them so they have made them stronger.

you will have to find out which one and replace it , they are very easy to replace if your up for doing it?
