With all this rain we've been having i thought i'd buy a waterproof cover for my convertable to protect the roof a bit. On the box is said ' not to be used on convertables ' . Can anyone tell my why this is and what damage it would do.

hi - it's only a thought - but maybe they mean for it not to be used when the hood is down as the weight of the rain would make it sag and possibly tear ?? just a thought !
all depends what your roof is made of your better off getting a polymer resin spray for tents if you have a cloth roof there is a cheap but good one available at lidl but make sure the hood is clean and dry before applying
i'm assuming it says not for use on convertibles because the roofline is slightly different shape than a hard top. i don't see how it could hurt your top though. i'd ask a reputable auto detail shop or paint shop.
Could be a condensation issue,Covers normally makes the car sweat especially if put on when the engine is still warm.It could cause the fabric of the roof to mildew and rot over time.
