The windscreen washer on my Vectra works intermittently. I can always hear the pump motor, so the switch and wiring must be OK. The 4 jets/nozzles are not blocked. Water squirts from all 4 nozzles perfectly, but only on seemingly random occasions (on average, maybe one in every six tries). The water is clear water; temperature above freezing; washer has worked in various conditions (eg. car stationary, car moving, engine cold, engine hot, all gears and speeds, etc), and so I have no idea as to the cause of the problem other than that the pump has a fault of some sort. Or could it be something else?

remove the washer pump from the washer bottle and check the mesh filter on the rubberseal that the pump sits in, sometimes these get clogged with gunk and causes an itermittant blockage.
