My VW Golf TDI has started making a loud vibrating type noise when it reaches about 2400 revs - if you go slower or faster it stops. It has recently been serviced and had new tyres and catalytic conv exhaust. It doesn't affect the acceleration - just sounds loud and you can feel a vibration from under the car. Any ideas welcome! ( I itend to take it back to where it was serviced - but would like to go with a bit of info)

From your question it could be a badly fitted exhaust or more likely the new tyres are out of balance.
Hi, Kblue, just check your new tyres, make sure they are tighten up right!! and make sure the wheel bearing aren't loose, and like Toureman said, badly fitted exhaust or they haven't balanced the wheels,

Was it OK, before you took it to the garage??
If it was!, then the garage is at fault not doing their job right!

Sounds like something is resonating such as the large plastic "TDI" engine cover or a loose engine mounting. Does it vibrate at 2400rpm when the car is stationary? If so, rev it up and try to locate the source of the vibration.

Thanks for all your suggestions.
The garage have changed the front bushes ( which needed doing anyway) and it has improved lots - still a small vibration, but its something I can live with for now!
