They probably put their harnesses on too.

They are leather flying helmets which contain 'pockets' for the radio headphones to go into.

They have to put the harness on or they would never reach the target with turbulence or g forces when manouvering.

or they just like to do things with a bit of style!!

... and they probably fuel up enough to get home with some in reserve.

Or you could ask, why do people post history questions in a sub-category of the motoring section?

... especially when they can't spell kamikaze
