ntdll.dll

this is winding me up something chronic! got a brand spanking new alienware pc with all the mod cons a pc could ever want. basically, it has windows vista, ati hd 3870 x2 and 4 gig ram.
company of heroes is the worst. in the middle of a game, it will crash saying something is wrong with ntdll.dll. the game will run graphics full whack with perfect frame rates, but then it suddenly lags, before completely crashing, and blaming ntdll.dll.
crysis is another one. again, it runs the game in full glory with every setting on very high in dx 10. now this is only a certain level, but its a level where theres a lot of action, and no doubt requires a lot of memory, but the same, it crashes. it doesnt appear to blame ntdll.dll.
these are the only two games ive been able to test. both upgraded with patches. drivers updated and windows vista up to date.
now...im thinking, could it be because my graphics card is overclocked? is it a memory problem? how do i find out? how do i fix it?
everything else is, to be honest...okay. It is a very temremental system, and honestly, disappointing. It comes up with USB not recognised in places where there isnt one plugged in. it doesnt like windows dream scene, telling me another dll file isnt working. if i so much as touch the front panel on the desktop, it decides to go into standby without letting me get back in sesson. yada yada. these problems arent the end of the world for me. their a nusiance but thats all. i want the best games to work...and they do, perfectly, smoothly and flawlessly, accept they like crashing half way through...
