I was wondering if there were anyone who could tell me what usually needs to be changed/replaced in a car due to wear and tear. What I'm referring to is essential engine things like cambelts etc. that can potentially ruin your car and/or run up extremely costly bills. You might have seen another post where I explained that I had no idea that a car had such a thing called a cambelt, let alone it needed changing. I learned the hard (expensive) way and now want to try and be prepared.
I have no idea when it comes to cars, apart from changing a tyre and checking water and oil. I would be grateful if someone would advise. thanks
in your cars handbook,it will tell you when the car needs to be serviced, and the recomended times or mileage for your cambelt to be changed,if you have one that is,other wear and tear parts, like clutch and brakes, just need replacing when they wear out, your garage should advise you on these things when you have your service, also check your oil and water levels every month, keep your tyres pumped up to regular level.
all of above plus air conditioning needs to be serviced regularly ( not part of standard service). If not serviced, it will pack up...very costly to repair!
