sold a faulty vehicle and dealer was aware of a problem
i have purchased a 2nd hand car from a dealers.when i collected it 10am, they said it needed a part and could i come back later - i couldn't and, after all, they'd had all week to service it and have it ready to go.after waiting 40 minutes i was told the car had been sorted. i left and later rang dealer re warning light that had come on at 4pm on my way to work - they didn't ring me back so i rang again following morning 9am and took car back. they 'reset' it and i left dealers. it broke down 5 minutes later and its now back at the dealers having a 'throttle body' replaced. am i correct in thinking i'm entitled to a replacement car if the 2nd hand car i purchased was released to me with a fault? it just lost power on a major road. i have a terrible feeling this is not the end to this problem after doing some research on the net. any advice?

Was the part that it needed to do with the reason it broke down? if so i cant see that you shoul dget a eplacement car - actually, when you say replacement car, d you mean courtesy car while yours is being fixed or another one altogether?

how could i know there was a fault? i was told they would fix it - i waited 40 mins and then was told it had been fixed?
ive now consulted with consumer goods act and it seems im within my rights to ask for a refund or replacement as 1) there was an inherent fault and 2) i did not receive any benefit from the goods. i did not accept there was a problem- i was told it had been fixed. at no point in this sale did i insist on driving the car away whilst there was a problem.

bedknobs - u might not believe this... i returned to pick up supposedly fixed car today. proceeded to drive home. 5 mins later its died on me on a roundabout - no warning lights - nothing! i nearly had a major accident. i pulled over to compose myself - restarted it and drove back to garage.they couldn't believe it. i have told them i dont want the car and as there was nobody to deal with my case today im awating a call 2mro to discuss the whole sorry matter.
