Unleaded petrol v super unleaded

I drive a 1995 BMW 525i.

I know that super unleaded is more expensive, but will I notice any difference when comparing my car's performance using unleaded petrol (95 RON rating) and super unleaded (99 RON)?

Not that I doubt what either of you say (coz I don't!), but I cannot understand why the two grades are available. Unless, of course, they have differing properties that are advantageous for something other than performance.
