burning a disc

anyone know how i can burn a copy of a cd with data on it. i can copy a dvd or music cd but i dont seem to be able to copy a data cd,im presuming it's to do with a copyright

Depends what sort of data disc you're trying to copy. Games, for instance, are often copy protected. There are programs out there which will let you copy most things....try Googling the name of the cd you're trying to copy and include the phrase 'make backup copy' and see what comes up.
