I have low profile tyres on my 5 year old BMW 318 hatchback and am probably going to have to change them very soon. At the moment the make is continental which is very expensive to replace. Anyone any comments on other brands that are cheaper but just as good. They tyres in question are 245/40 R17 (back) and 225/45 ZR front. Someone mentioned Barum but I have read the writeups on this brand and they do not seem to wear that well, although I do not do that many miles in a year.

Any comments greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I was going to recommend Barum before I read the rest of your post.

I have had them on my car for 3500 miles and they have hardly worn at all.

They are made by Continental.

Buy them from the site below and they are 30% cheaper than going to a garage.
Or even try;

yokohama or toyo are also good and wont cost as much as continental, michelin, bridgestone etc
hi.
it sounds like you have a nice car and the better the tyre the better the handling you have.
also the safty,cheap and nastie are what the are.
safty is number 1.
save a few 's here and there could end up in a crash.
be safe.
